The Sweetest Gifts of All
One of the traditions at our house during the Christmas season is baking sugar cookies. My kitchen becomes what I fondly refer to as "the cookie war zone." The aftermath is flour, sugar, icing, and icing coloring on every flat surface in the room. But year after year the results are worth every minute of the process, because the cookies become gifts that bring joy to other people. I always marvel that long after the cookies are rolled out, cut out, baked, iced, decorated, and delivered, I still discover icing and sanding sugar in interesting places. I think, how in the world did it end up there, so far away from where all the action took place? I feel a wonder too, when I think about the love, joy, hope, and peace of Christmas.
